White Space

Moving into a bare apartment offers many opportunities- such as trying to find ways to occupy the empty walls.  Coming from a home where my mother literally covered the walls in various decorations, family photos, and craft fair finds- finding myself surrounded by bareness naturally feels... not-home-like.

So in attempts to make my new place feel more homey- ideas of cheap decorating ideas that wouldn't damage the walls and that are also pretty easy to make- started to come to mind.  The winning idea of this round was... tissue paper flowers.  I remember making them to make my "bridal bouquet"when I would play dress up with my neighbors when I was a young whippersnapper.  To my delight they have offered an easy, colorful, and affordable way to fill some empty space.

If you're curious as to how to make these there is a nice tutorial on the blog The Color Issue:  Flower Poufs.

Before the Flowers

& After.

Hopefully soon I will have thought of some more ways to decorate these walls of mine- because there's a lot of white space to work with.

Have a marvelous Wednesday
& take care

it's been a long time

As of now I am going to make a conscious effort into creating more posts on this, so sorry for the lack of content.

Quick overview since the move to Chicago:
-moved into my apartment- I love it.
-familiarized myself with the city- check.
-went to a bunch of shows- with some amazing people.
-created new ways to enjoy my CSA veggies and fruits- some better than others.
-making my new house into a home for the next two years- in progress.
-eating a bunch of cupcakes- done, done, done and will continue to happen- they're just so good!

Moving to Chicago has been one of the most challenging but rewarding experiences I have encountered this far in my 22 years.  It's strange to think that I'm half a day drive from my home in Minnesota and that my friends are scattered about the country and soon-to-be world.  It's an exciting time, but also a good time to reflect on what experiences I have had and how they have impacted me and eventually led me to be living in a city with 3+ million people in it.  I'll get into more specifics at some point.

As for now, have a wonderful Sunday!

Real Life.

Hello,
as of yesterday I am officially going to graduate school in Chicago. Oh my goodness.  Now to finish up at Concordia, move, Sasquatch!, and move to Chicago.  Craziness.
That is all,
take care,

(500) Days of Kayla

This is our serious pose...
& this is us normally...

This here- this lady- is my friend Kayla. She's pretty neat. She's leaving soon for Kansas City, Missouri in a few weeks... Potential for a road trip? I think so. But we are currently we are watching (500) Days of Summer... "You Make My Dreams Come True!"
Have a wonderful night.
